I recently had the opportunity to visit L.A to speak at my dear friend, David Tutera, first ever David Tutera Symposium! This was like a double check in my book, fly to L.A. check, speak at large event with David, check. But first, a few highlights about L.A. Also in order to keep the images of the trip cohesive and making sure I give proper credit to each photographer, the blog focusing on the David Tutera Symposium will be following this blog post in a couple of days!
Well, L.A. is just as you would picture it, (well sort-of!) I’ll explain.
As soon as I flew in, the L.A. skyline was lined with the tallest palm trees every, which are super iconic to the L.A. area! In fact, if you scroll through the internet or on instagram, and see shots of tall palms or just palms, you can bet they were taken in L.A. Like I kept thinking, how in the world do these palm trees not just blow over, they’re so tall. They definitely don’t grow palm trees that tall in Florida, or at lest I haven’t witnesses them.
So the first super cool thing that happened on my trip, was the flight from Seattle to L.A. ( Side note: I was flying from Seattle to L.A. because the hubby and I had been on vacation a week in Seattle) Anyways, I hopped on a Virgin Airline Plane , which I’m not kind of obsessed with…here’s why. The plane was SOOOOO L.A. I’m not sure if this color and the way the performed was typical or if it was just on the L.A. bound flight. But the plane was all white, with purple and pink lighting, very sleek design and high fashion if you will. Okay so my favorite part of the plane other than it was all white design, was the fact that our flight attendant performed down the aisle the entire “safety rules + regulations” which included her dancing…it was so entertaining that several people were filming at this point… (of course my phone was almost dead so I couldn’t change recording it, since I needed as much of a charge as I could have to call an uber once I landed. ) Next, not too long into my flight…my chattering mouth and being all excited, and typical me on a plane I start up a convo with the girl next to me, ya know, the standard, “Hi my name is, what do you do, where are you from? etc. and come to find out “the girl” was Sara Coates, actress. Super sweet and I’m so excited to watch her grown in her career, Sara I can’t wait to one day say, I knew her when!
If you’re visiting L.A. soon, I highly recommend you to stop and grab a bite to eat for dinner at Republique! Republique is one of the top 3 restaurants in L.A. if that tells you anything. It’s actually one of Mandy Moore’s favorite places to dine! I didn’t see her while I was there, but I did fill my belly with this goodness: Escargot en Croute, (you guys it’s snail cooked in a croissant, stuffed in a mini white porcelain dish with pesto at the bottom, you flip it upside down and poke a hold in it to let all of the flavors merry (OMG) so good, Brussel Sprouts, and the Local White Sea Bass. And, trust me, this is plenty for two people to eat on.
Some of the things you have to visit while you are in L.A. are:
If you’re looking for a local photographer, my dear friend, Shannan Leigh, is super duper sweet and so talented. She is a natural light photographer based out of California, but of course is always up to travel. Shannan recently shot for the infamous Draper James clothing brand!
