I’m starting a new blog series, come along with me as I share my food facts and finds on my journey as I my battle with anemia.
A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down… not only does it help but, it is medicine!
So many of you read my recent IG post where I spoke about my ongoing battle with major anemia. Yes, in the past I’ve already had three blood transfusions.. (I’ll get into this in more detail on a later blog)
I’m on a journey and want you to follow along with me as I find tips, tricks and healthy ways to increase my red blood count, but ultimately to become a healthier person. Feel free to chime in and share your favorite tips, tricks and recipes too!

People have anemia due to low iron and or a decreased count of good red blood cells.
What does having low iron do? Wow, actually a ton..memory loss, lack of energy, jaundice (yellowing of the skin), shortness of breath, causes angina (heart-attack like chest pains), depression, it pretty much has a domino affect on your entire life and body.
I battled with all of the above including wanting to withdraw myself from my social life…which totally isn’t me.
Did you know iron and b vitamins are found in honey?
Wow crazy…I’d never have guessed that. Not only is it a good way to add iron to your body, but the other major minerals found in honey include calcium, copper, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium an zinc. The major vitamins found in honey are, b6, thiamin, niacin, and many more.
B Vitamins play an important role in keeping our bodies running like well-oiled machines. These essential nutrients help convert our food into fuel, allowing us to stay energized throughout the day. While many of the following vitamins work in tandem, each has its own specific benefits — from promoting healthy skin and hair to preventing memory loss or migraines.
“Honey possesses unique life-supporting qualities not found in other sugars and delivers much more than what many medical doctors could comprehend. Know that not all sugars are made equal and don’t be too quick to dismiss honey as just another sugar.” {reference}
I’m not a doctor, but with all of the health benefits of honey…you can’t go wrong adding this to your “Daily dose”.
Sugar is so much sweeter..in a new way!
I hope this first blog, Honey’s Health Benefits really helps you get started on the right journey this holiday season, to not only looking your best, more importantly feeling your best!
xo,
Emily
