This wedding had to be totally fashion forward, let me explain!
So, when your asked to design a wedding for a bride that works for Fashion Designer, Nicole Miller…Can you say added pressure?!
Gina came to me with 0 imput other than she wanted clean + timeless, no color selections, no inspirational pictures, no anything.
Typically this is exactly what you want when designing and Event from ground up, but…when your client works for a Fashion Designer… (yeah)
The definition of clean + timeless for one client could be interpretively a tad differently for another. But needless to say hitting the “nail on the head” was a must.
I initially came up with two totally different concepts, one with more of a Pop-art if you will timeless version with punches of color (Reds, pinks, and blacks) and the one you see below.
Initially the ceremony was supposed to take place on an upper deck at The Omni Plantation in Amelia Island, unfortunately the weather did not cooperate at all. Monsooning was an understatement. More like Hurricane on the loose weather. So with a couple of hours to spare the call was made to move the Ceremony underneath a little portico covering…Oh and might I add a little re-design was underway on the fly! And I couldn’t have been happier with the finished product. We redesigned the heck out of this wedding, as if it was always meant to be under the Portico.
I had this vision to play with some geometric shapes since Nicole Miller’s designs showcase alot of plays on this. So I designed this custom backdrop with the help of Beachview Event Rentals. Can you say wow-factor?! It’s totally one-of a kind + unique and the really cool thing about this is the piece can be displayed in the bride and groom’s home as artwork for the wall.
So after the ceremony due to the weather, the space in which the bride and groom got married (under the Portico) had to hold six additional Reception Tables. It really worked out perfectly and out little Ceremony Backdrop became an art piece and Divider to our two different Table Scape Designs.
There were a total of three different types of tables capes, nothing matched, but of course all coordinated with textures and colors. For a little modern twist I added a black and white striped linen napkin to each place setting.
The guests were greeted with cocktails, so they could “Sip while they Found their seat” and of course Cocktail hour reconvened post Ceremony underneath the Custom Striped Barrel Shade lighting.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this Nicole Miller Inspired wedding at The Omni Club of Amelia Island as much as I did designing it!
