This super fun stylized shoot was featured on Venuelust, so be sure you click their link to see the full spread.
I want you to think for a moment, what if Beyonce and Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie got together for tea. No doubt the conversation would be interesting, and probably even a bit awkward.
Well, that was the concept of this beautiful, modern and traditional mixed High tea party, stylized shoot at Musgrove Plantation.
It’s not everyday you get a call from another creative that says, I’d like to incorporate Beyonce in a styled shoot. Boy, oh boy does my creative mind start wondering. I knew with the very traditional elements of Musgrove, it was crucial in order to have cross coordination between the shoot and the venue, pulling in some traditional elements to find the perfect balance was a must.
Colors + Style: I wanted to choose a bold color and place a nod to Beyonce’s lemonade album, so I went with a golden rod yellow. I used some cute “puns “Will you bee my bridesmaid?! And chair labels like, Queen B” added a playful touch.
Flowers + Decor: I went with a bold pattern on the linen, and selected a variety of mixed matched gold china pieces to add an elegant flair. Beyonce is always pushing the envelop with her fashion sense…and I wanted to showcase this hear by putting together pieces you normally wouldn’t put together, like modern linens, traditional gold china, bumble cakes, and hobnail vases with fresh yellow flowers of a sort. A variety of flowers such as roses, freesia, tulips and the sort were all chosen in yellow shades to keep with the modern design concept. I always like to add freesia to a table if given the options since the smell is so heavenly….it kind of smells like fruit loops (LOL!)
The Food: I was having a reminiscent moment about my time in Canada eating crumpets and tea with the queen…so we opted miniature blueberry scones, mini lemon tartlets, and mini cinnamon rolls on a stick…I’m not going to lie, I have an obsession in tea parties and mini food everything. There’s just that’s so dainty about having bite sized portions, don’t you think?
The High tea featured games like croquet, and name that scone, and even had actives that included horse back riding to pick wildflowers.
To style a shoot that pushes the boundaries and allows you to think outside the box, is so freeing in our industry and I can definitely say I thrive off of working with other creatives and pushing the boundaries in our industry.
A special thanks to all of our gorgeous models..it was a super long day that day and you girls Rocked it! xoxo
