From table scapes to bouquets, we know how to get you to Stand at Attention!
Re-emphasize what you are celebrating with stripes, stars, or even black/white pictures of the American Flag. This is a time to be YOU and use your IMAGINATION! |
Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars. I am proud to say I have several generations in my family that served, first and foremost my husband whom I am very proud of Dave Burton, my father Danny Stanaland, my father in-law-David Burton Sr., and my Grandfather the late D.H. Alderman.
If I have an excuse to decorate, or NOT I am going to! Time to bring out the flowers, the glass jars, wine glasses, my best swirl white Mikasa China and an appetite!
I decided for this years table scape that I would go with a variety of clear glasses, since I wanted the focus to be on my POP of COLORS! From Maison jars to old fashioned milk bottles, this is the perfect compliment to my double dutch white tulips, bright red-orange and baby pink spray roses.
Decorating for a holiday, you don’t have to take it literal, (red, white, and blue) go with different hues like I chose, reddish-orange, deep purple (blackberries) and baby pink. The blackberries are the perfect compliment to my color scheme, this time of year, (Summer) and make such a pretty Accessory to the wine glasses.I chose Grape wine with Raspberry Flavor thanks to Chateau Elan Winefusion (http://www.chateauelan.com/).
When creating your table scapes choose everything wisely! Each piece of serving dish and food item can compliment your table decor. Think about your plating options. In order for me to keep with the theme, my sweet husband picked up Swiss cheese (from Ireland), from our local Commissary and I placed on a marble cheese tray with Silver beaded handles, and a local watermelon was spooned into white ribbed corning wear. When using several pieces of one color, like I did, the white dishes, it is great to use different textures to add more interest.

I chose not to use red, white, and blue flowers, to me that is to literal. I like to be different and think of other ways to reiterate a Military or Patriotic wedding. I decided to used a combination of white tulips (center of bouquet), Reddish Orange Spray roses, and the outer flowers are baby pink spray roses. I had a beautiful old scarf with different hues of blues, red, and silver threads running through it and knew it was the perfect compliment to my Patriotic themed Wedding Bouquet.
I have to say I really am not a Red or or Reddish-Orange kind of girl. I just never sway toward those hues or colors. But after finishing this bouquet, I am IN LOVE with using the combinations of white, reddish-orange, and baby pink. If this doesn’t make you want to STAND AT ATTENTION FOR the BRIDE coming down the isle, I don’t know what would!
