I tend to detox my body every year in January. Anyone else keep this a ritual?! I’ve tried them all, from juicing (which I love) and I typically do on a 10 day cycle to the cayenne pepper, honey, and lemon water, yogi teas, bottle cleanses, and the list goes on and on….I love the results, but I don’t love how hard it is.
To be honest, any type of body detox requires focus, discipline, and NOT ALOT OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL labor. Since January is our “off Season” for our large event, for doing actual it always makes for the perfect time to detox. BUT, this year I wanted to try a little something extra. I wanted to detox both my mind and my body….so I decided to Not do any form of Social Media posts for 6 days. Woah! Yeah, running a business and a social media driven world and not do Any Type of social media. But my desire to do it and the benefit I felt I would receive, along with my team definitely out-weighed not doing it.
So why detox?
We get toxins from literally everything! Gosh, I could be so OCD about this, but I just give most of it to God and do what I can where I can to try and eliminate as many toxins as I can. I’m specially doing this detox, because I feel sluggish and have had autoimmune issues and gallbladder issues. Although my autoimmune issues are like 95% better due to my strict diet and sleep regimen. I’m specifically doing a full body detox and a gallbladder detox. It will be my first time doing the gallbladder detox so, I’ll have to let you know on a future blog posts about how it went (wish me luck, I’m literally sipping on the solution as I finish this blog…it’s not as bad as I thought, but it doesn’t take like coffee either. LOL! ]
The food we eat, the air we breathe, the household cleaners we spray, the electronics we use on a daily basis… However, toxic free radicals are formed in the body too. Stress hormones, emotional disturbances, anxiety and negative emotions all create free radicals as well. Living without toxic buildup is clearly impossible, which is why our body has built in mechanisms to deal with toxic overload.
Some forms of removing toxic products include, Crying, sweating, urination and defecation and good thing since they are all completely natural.
Detoxing is important for so many reasons. First and foremost it can literally reverse certain symptoms of illness and completely “reset your metabolism”Detoxification is so important because it can literally reverse the symptoms of illness and change your life. There are many different methods and ways to detox (depending on what you are detoxing) so finding out what’s right for you can be a process within it’s self. But as long as you are detoxing in a safe way, there’s nothing wrong with it.
Some of the most common detoxes include focusing on the liver, small intestine, kidneys, and colon, which are the major organs involved in the body’s detoxification system. However, when employing any type of cleanse (like a juice cleanse, liver and gallbladder cleanse, elimination diet, heavy metal cleanse, etc.) it is important to first cleanse the kidneys and colon, as these two eliminative organs are responsible for carrying toxic waste out of the body. If they aren’t cleared of blockages, you can end up with even more toxic buildup, as the toxins that are being expelled have nowhere to go. Herbal formulas and teas are especially good at cleansing the kidneys. Colon hydrotherapy, enemas and Epsom salt cleanses are all excellent way to cleanse the colon.
Grabbing quick foods during this process helps to, when you have little energy and remain on the go.

- Organic Sweet Potatoes
- Bone Broth
- Deer Meat
- Organic Legumes

Herbal Formulas + Teas
I used a combination of herbal teas from Nutrient Wise, along with juicing and eating strictly organic for two weeks. I’m not going to lie, it’s very hard. But the benefits at the end, the mind clarity, the clear and porcelain look to your skin, the rush of energy you get All make it worth the while.
Social Media Detox
Has anyone else tried this? It’s a must. Most people won’t admit how much social media means, or has meant, to them or really how many hours or seconds they even stay on social media. For me, social media has been my life. From Facebook, twitter, to snapchat, then instagram, periscope and of course they added one more Instagram stories… it was time for not only a body detox, but a brain and mind detox.
Literally, After six years of heavy social media use (read: nearly every waking hour of every single day, phone in hand every single minute) it was time for a break. Sigh…would I lose followers, perhaps, but what would I gain from the process. Freedom and a clear mind! I was fed with rushing to the phone to make a post, at that certain “golden hour” of time ya know or you miss those like 35 -45 crucial likes.
Moving into 2017, taking these breaks in tandem has been one of the best business decisions I have made.
