Pick your pot! I was inspired by all of the fresh herbs that I’ve been seeing at our produce markets as well as all of the food served at some of my favorite local farm to table restaurants, here on St. Simons Island! In particular, there’s one salad that I order that has chunks of diced parsley and mint, topped with a fresh citrus dressing. It’s my favorite and I always feel so alive and clean after eating it! It just screams spring!
The idea for the St. Patricks Day Brunch is that your friends sit down and are served fresh soup, salad, with toasties (simple slice of bread that’s been baked to perfection, with added cheese and has the perfect crunch) The main course, again my favorite, a deep dish quiche. Fresh herbs are tasty on all of these! Let your friends help themselves to tear off or cut a garnish from a pot they pick and then they can take it home with them as a favor.
You could totally use this same concept if you wanted to have a St. Patricks’ Day inspired private wedding as well!
Potting the Plants: I simply used potting soil from Lowes and potted my herbs in all white pots and dishes of different shapes and sized. Oh and if you don’t have enough of the same color pots, just find some tissue paper and twine and wrap your herb (see the bottom shelf in the picture.) I’ve done one for you!
Choosing your Glassware: Choose glassware you love that works with your overall design concept. For me, I love all white! It always lends itself to looking clean and modern, and might I add it’s timeless. I chose a variety of pots I had around the house, such as white tea pots, mini white vases, and even a white square dish.
Displaying your Potted Herbs: Next, grab some books and “staging items” in the same color palette and just make them look pretty.
I chose a variety of herbs, Italian Parsley, Cilantro, and chocolate mint!
DIY Centerpieces: These are so, so simple, you’re going to probably laugh…But I love how much impact they have and…arent’ they just so ADORABLE?!
Items You’ll Need to Make Centerpieces:
1 bag of green moss (I use this one)
1 bag of River Rocks or you could use regular rocks (I use this one)
1 can 14 Karat gold spray paint (You can pick this up from Michaels or Lowes)
Directions: Spray the river rocks or glass rocks and let them dry. While the Rocks are drying place your Green Reindeer moss in your containers. Now, your ready to add your gold river rocks…and tadaa, you have a little pot of gold!
