I love when I have repeat families I work with…it really makes me feel like I’m a part of their family!
Amiya initially called me when she got engaged and told me she wanted to have a wedding with about 400 guests at her new farm in Virginia…And Of course I was totally thrilled, because I absolutely love to travel!
Although Amiya had set out to plan one heck of a wedding, I ended up receiving a phone about a month after the planning process had started, where she broke the news, “We eloped on Inizio (their gorgeous Italian yacht), and are married!”
Honestly, it didn’t surprise me one bit (knowing her) that her and Jeff had eloped.
Just like many brides, they want so much to please everyone around them!
Everyone has an opinion about everything, what you should wear, how many people should invite, how you should wear your hair…Amiya had waited a while to met her other half, Jeff, she really didn’t want anyone’s opinion, she just wanted the day to be about the love she had found and the life she was living with Jeff. That’s the way it should be!

I remember responding, “Congrats, I really couldn’t see you getting married any other way.” (and that really was the truth)…but I’ve found you just have to let brides figure out that on their own.
So, onto plan B. Since I really do consider myself a part of the family. I encouraged Amiya to at least have something her sisters and parents would feel included, like a wedding celebration! We settled on a post Thanksgiving Friends-giving.
So once the plans were final, the design concept started! (My favorite part) Amiya wanted a natural, yet elegant post Thanksgiving dinner with friends, so my concept evolved called, “A Festive Friends-giving” ! She wanted an elegant touch, but not to over the top, that people felt uncomfortable…ya know the same feeling when you walk into a house where everything is soooo uptight…you feel like if you sneeze your going to break something, “kind of moment.”
Villa De Suenos was the perfect choice for my clients’! It’s elegant and the ocean side views are absolutely breathtaking! Like I always tell the owner, I’m ready to move in. LOL! It really feels totally private and the amount of overnight guests and families it can sleep was the perfect choice for them.. I love the fact that Villa De Suenos has an In-Law Suite that’s totally separate from the house…it’s the perfect way to accommodate another family staying over.
They wanted a very casual and relaxed, yet elegant setting. “Nothing to uptight feeling.”

I paired wooden farmhouse tables with natural fruitwood chairs to give a more casual affair. I selected stemless wine glasses…these are a little less informal and gold silverware to dress up the tables for more of modern vibe. I love using accents of gold, it just warms up the pacesetting and screams Fall. We did decide to give the flowers a punch of color since the setting was ocean side, Amiya loves pops of color.
I accented the decor with fresh bartlett pears to play off of the post Thanksgiving friends-giving theme! Because when I think of fall I think of all of the warm fruit components and they just soften up a space and add another nice element of a texture!
