Christmas is in T-12 days… yikes! How’s it coming on your end with putting the final touches on your Christmas Decorations?!
I’m sure by now the stockings are hung, but perhaps you still needing to “juzz” or put the final touches on or around your home. Maybe it’s not your main home, but your “getaway home” , like this adorable little cottage farmhouse I recently designed for some of my dear friends!
I loved creating a Woodland “Winter Wonderland” in some of my dear friends get-away home for the holidays and for a recent editorial that can be viewed in the recent edition of Golden Isle Magazine!
This home I recently designed is so modern and clean, and it’s surrounded by woods on all sides, so for me I wanted to enhance the already gorgeous stained oak fireplace and clean white walls by bringing the outdoors in.
Ya’ll this required literally 0 budget. That’s why I love working with what nature has already given us!
I chose a variety of of natural greenery that can be found outside this time of the year, like evergreen (because the aroma always evokes Christmas), Magnolia leaves because of the two toned color, and cotton for some added texture…and Viola, you have a natural, yet clean woodland Winter wonderland.
Vase Filler: I have a simple trick I like to use throughout the Fall and Winter Season, especially since I’m married to The Pecan Man (lol), throwing away pecan shells is such a waist, so I like to reuse them in vases for added color and texture, like I’ve shown you here on the mantle. You can even grind the shells down further and use them in your soil to enhance the nutrients. Neat, uh?!
Other Mantle Decorations: Some of the other mantle decorations that my client’s had on hand were deer antlers, so I created a focal point in the center of the mantle and stacked a pair to break up the “all green and brown color” Lastly, my sweet friend over at Lavender Bee creates the most gorgeous macrame by hand and I thought adding in another soft element would create the perfect balance between both hard and soft.
For all of the other nooks and crannies of their little get-away cottage farmhouse cabin (yes I made this up because its such a combination of the three..) cute wooden signage with baskets of greenery were placed on a little wooden bench as you enter the home!
Again, since our focus this season is, Jesus, my friends over at Hope Farm Company created this custom sign just for us…and they can do the same for you. Be sure to check them out!
