Who loves cheese?! I do, I do!
To me there is nothing better than wine and cheese during the holiday season, right?! Even forget the wine, just give me a cheese board and put me in the corner by myself…I’ll devour it in 2.5 seconds…LOL!
There are some things consider when building your own cheese board for the holidays!
How much Cheese do you use?
- 3 lbs per 8 people if your cheese is the main food
- 4oz per person if cheese board is just a side item
What kid of cheese should you choose? How many different kinds?
- Include a variety of texutres: I like to use three at least, 1 soft, 1 semi-firm and 1 hard
- Serve at least one familiar cheese, like cheddar
- Mix Cheese Styles or Pick type of milk uses; such as cow, goat, and or sheep and be sure to label them due to allergies)
How should you display cheese?
- Get Creative – I like putting the largest cheese wedge in the center and working my way out…as if I am creating an edible puzzle piece! Use fruits that you enjoy eating as well as fruits that fit within the season. I typically love figs because of their color, grapes and apples are my favorites to pair with cheeses…and again their familiar to your usual crowd!
- Use Accompaniments– When we refer to accompaniments, we are referring to “cheese partners in crime” if you will! Again choose a variety of proteins such as meats and nuts (yes nuts for vegans like me
- Board Options – Some of our favorite cheese board options include the following:
- Picnic Cheese Board
- Slate Cheese Board
- Gold Leaf Marble Handle Cheese Board
- Built In Cracker Holder Cheese Board
What Accompaniments are Best Paired with Cheese?
- Breads
- Jarred Condiments : [chutney, jam, and pepper jelly are our favs]
- Vegetables
- Fruits
- Various Sweet + Salty Mixtures
And as the Cultural Institute of UNF says, “Express yourself through cheese, it’a a thing!
So go ahead and get your cheese on!

Emily
